April showers may bring May flowers, but if you need a little floral pop in your crafting before then crocheting a flower is incredibly easy.
With this simple pattern you can add flowers to your project or crochet a colourful garden (that never needs watering)!
Ch – Chain
HDC – Half double crochet
TR – Triple (or treble crochet)
Sl St – Slip stitch
What you’ll need:
Two colours of yarn (one for the centre and one for the petals)
Crochet hook appropriate for yarn weight
With main colour: Magic Ring, CH 3
Round 1: 6 HDC in magic ring, SL ST to first HDC to join in round
Round 2: switch to contrast colour, CH 2, TR into first HDC, CH 2, SL ST in next HDC, *CH 2, TR into HDC with SL ST, CH 2, SL ST in next HDC* repeat around. You should have 6 flower petals by the end.
This pattern is easy to switch up. If you don’t like having as much colour in the middle swap out the initial HDC round for SC. For more/fewer petals, adjust the number of stitches put into the magic ring.
Just like our pattern for how to crochet a mini Easter basket, this flower is a great stash buster.
